On November 4, the book L’Histoire de la Belgique en 100 cartes anciennes was presented. Philippe De Maeyer, emeritus of the geography department, illustrates, together with 3 historians, the history of Belgium through 100 carefully chosen maps. The maps are visualized in large format and each time the historical development they represent is described together with its cartographic context. Co-authors are Michèle Galand (ULB), Bram Vannieuwenhuyze (University of Amsterdam) and Guy Vanthemsche (VUB). The book is published by Racine (French edition) and Lannoo (Dutch edition).
Number of pages: 407, dimensions (closed): 350x290.
